A Selby firm has given a major boost to the Hospice 2000 appeal with a £1,000 donation from its general charity fund.
Tate & Lyle Citric Acid chose the cause because many workers have a special link with the hospice.
Steven Smith, administration manager, said: "We immediately thought of the Hospice Millennium Appeal because many of us here have relatives and friends who have benefited from the care the hospice offers to local people, and we wanted to help at this important time in its development."
Steven Harker at the hospice said: "This generous donation from Tate & Lyle Citric Acid brings us another step closer to our £2 million target.
"We have always had support from locally-based industry and know other firms in the area will follow Tate & Lyle's example."
