Two more contractors have been arrested by fraud squad detectives investigating City of York Council's Tenants' Choice home modernisation scheme.
A total of six people - four contractors and two former council managers - have now been arrested and released on police bail pending further inquiries.
All six will be returning to police stations later this month for further questioning about allegations of corruption and deception over the running of the scheme.
The Evening Press reported in February how police had been called in by council bosses to investigate alleged criminal offences connected to the Tenants' Choice scheme, following a probe by the council's internal audit team.
The scheme, which allows tenants to pick their own bathrooms, kitchens and heating systems, has transformed 3,000 York homes since it began in 1989. The investigation was sparked by a call to the council's anti-fraud hotline.
