Brian Hughes, 45, from South Bank, will not only be running the London Marathon next weekend, but he's doing it dressed as Widow Twanky - in a bid to raise thousands for muscular dystrophy.
He's borrowed the costume of York's best-loved panto dame, Berwick Kaler, for the run. He said: "The marathon and the costume is not a problem, but it's the Geordie accent that will be hard to imitate!"
Brian is the president of the Knavesmire Harriers running club, and more than 40 of his fellow runners will be joining him for this yearly run. "We hope to raise £5000 for muscular dystrophy."
Berwick Kaler said: "A pantomime run is the nearest I've ever got to a marathon. Putting the costumes on is the most physical thing I do and it's exhausting. Thankfully I'm in and out of them in a matter of minutes - so I have to take my wig off to Brian!
"Pantomime costumes are hot and weighty. If he makes it to the end of the marathon he will deserve all our support.
"I'll even pay for the dry-cleaning if there is anything left of it when he returns the outfit."
