Barnet 1, Scarborough 0
Scarborough slumped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Barnet and returned to the foot of the Football League.
Marlon King was a handful all afternoon and three minutes after the interval he finished crisply when Udo Onwere put the striker in the clear with a delightful pass.
Onwere had earlier thumped a free kick against the Scarborough cross-bar, with Tony Parks in the visitors goal beaten.
King's finishing was the difference between the two sides and Scarborough certainly had their chances, with all of them falling to Steve Brodie.
Brodie had come back into the side after missing the Easter games and looked lively throughout. His finishing, however, was off target.
He missed his first chance when Darren Roberts set him free, but failed to hit the target from twenty yards.
Just after the interval, Roberts was again the provider, but with only goal 'keeper Lee Harrison to beat, Brodie's shot went disappointingly straight at the 'keeper.
A few minutes later, King scored despite the finger-tips of Parks and those two incidents really settled a game which was always tight, if a little scrappy.
After the match, Scarborough manager Colin Addison said: "It was a close game, with little between the sides and I thought we created the best chances. It could have been a different story had Steve Brodie scored just after half time.
"He could have had a hat-trick, but nobody is knocking him for missing his chances, he has performed brilliantly for me since I arrived at the club. After their goal, Barnet got stronger and probably just deserved to win."
Despite the late pressure from the home side, Brodie had another chances with just twelve minutes remaining, but failed to hit the target from only twelve yards.
The small crowd of 1,679 did little to create any atmosphere and at times, the game had the feel of a meaningless end of season mid-table affair.
Boro are once again bottom of the Football League and Addison said "If we are going to get out of trouble, we are going to have to do it ourselves and not rely on other results.
There are plenty of games left and the most important one for us is now the one against Darlington on Wednesday night."
