Filthy and rubbish-strewn, the mile-long, unofficial tip at Bad Bargain Lane and Outgang Lane must be York's most shameful eyesore.
It is a disgrace to the city.
Those who have illegally dumped their rubbish here are nothing other than lazy, anti-social litter louts. The nearest official tips are a short car ride away. But these people are too bone idle to consider making even this minimal effort.
It does seem odd that nothing was done earlier to tackle this problem. Clearly the fly-tipping has been going on for months.
Now it has been brought to public attention, the authorities should clear it up quickly. And if anyone is caught dumping there again, they must be prosecuted.
