Shared-user warehousing and logistics specialist, The Potter Group, has made a number of new investments.
The Ripon-based group has purchased a new 42-tonne container lift, as part of its continued expansion in the rail freight sector.
The vehicle will be used to transfer containers from rail to road for unloading or local delivery, and is one of two which has been purchased by Potter for around £250,000.
"The new container lifts are further evidence of our commitment to encouraging the movement of freight by rail," said Peter Kempson, general manager of Potter's distribution centre.
"Since the privatisation of the railways, we have had great interest in our national and international rail freight services, which can now offer clear environmental and commercial benefits for manufacturers and distributors. We are currently handling products as diverse as fresh vegetables, animal feeds, cars, paper, fast-moving consumer goods, and ambient foods, which are coming into the region on the railways."
The Potter Group has over one million sq ft of covered bulk, blocked and computerised racked storage space at four strategic sites - Selby, Ripon, Ely and Droitwich.
