I MUST comment on the recent article in the Evening Press with regards to the carriage works and also the contents of Chris Myler's book, The Life And Times Of York Carriage Works.
There is hardly a mention of the many thousands of workers employed on maintaining and refurbishing the different types of rolling stock over the years.
Their skills and dedication made York Works also one of the most important railway repair centres in the country.
