I completely agree with A S Wilson's letter Why Should We Pay (March 16). I also very strongly object to paying £46.40 on top of the council tax to the North Yorkshire Police Authority bringing council tax bills for a Band C property to £614.60.
The NYPA has decided to spend £78.04 million in 1999/2000, £0.46m above the target level set by the government. Council tax payers will have to meet £14 million of this amount. Why not let all the MPs who have just had colossal rises foot the bill?
