THE Eye of York is still not safe for the people of York. Whatever scheme Land Securities come up with will not be agreeable to most of the people who are interested.
The letters to your newspaper and to the council prove that, but still the city council has not had the guts to say no.
Develop Piccadilly, it needs it. But the Eye of York is too sensitive a location for department stores.
The city council listens, but does not heed - it is a pretence. It will in fact do its own thing.
As a Freeman of York I would like to see some open spaces left in the city. So people of York, if you want any say in what happens to your heritage, vote with gusto on May 6 and have a change of council.
Now that's what I call a good idea for the new Millennium!
