I was glad to read that York City Council is beginning to think about redeveloping George Hudson Street.
This would offer the opportunity of killing several birds with one stone:
It would deal with the problem of boarded-up buildings.
The developers who want to put too large a development by Clifford's Tower might be persuaded to shift to George Hudson Street instead, where they would have plenty of scope for thinking big and they would be almost as close to the centre of York.
We might then, if we were very lucky, get an attractive route from the station into the city centre.
Redevelopment might provide an opportunity to reduce the number of pubs, reducing the drawing power of the Micklegate Run.
