Thank you for printing the article drawing attention to the anti-poverty conference being organised by voluntary agencies in York (Evening Press, January 19).
I would just like to add a couple of important points.
The conference - to be held at the Novotel on February 19 - is a crucial first step in putting together a strategy to improve the lives of thousands of local people. City of York Council, York University, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and agencies from across North and West Yorkshire will be involved in the day, as well as the various voluntary agencies who provide such a valuable service in the city.
However we also want individuals who live in York to take part as much as possible, and can offer subsidised places to those on low incomes courtesy of financial support from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and York City Charities.
Interested individuals and agencies can obtain a booking form from me at the address below.
We would like to receive completed forms by Friday, February 5, at the latest.
James Glover,
Conference Organiser,
York and District Citizens Advice Bureau,
Blossom Street,
York.
