Regarding your story Outdated Residential Homes Face Closure (January 18), why outdated? I cannot see a reason for this description.
Recently I became a volunteer at Juniper and have visited both St Mary's and St John's homes. The residents are cared for and encouraged to have outside interests, eg cooking classes, literacy, horticulture at Askham Bryan College, computer learning.
The residents know the area where they live and are supported and understood by the local shops and pubs. To uproot these people would cause unnecessary upset or distress.
