The three Selby councillors who accepted the hospitality of the various local firms were only following normal, and doubtless well deserved, practice (January, 13).
Perhaps the next time they travel to the cricket at Headingley or Doncaster races they might give a thought to the town's old-age pensioners eking out their £8's worth of yearly bus tokens? Why do York's senior citizens receive triple-value £25 travel vouchers?
How much of Selby's travel grant remains unclaimed? Here is a really useful way of celebrating the coming of the Millennium and a golden opportunity for the Labour Councillors of Selby to do something of practical value for their older folk. How about it councillors?
