IT was interesting to read your article on the plans to get people out of their cars and onto public transport (Package To Get More People On Buses, January 18).

I have to say that I am a bit puzzled by the "improvements" that have been proposed and how they can induce people back onto the public transport system.

While the increase in distribution of information about the services is good, it does not necessarily improve the usability of the services.

I used to live off Lawrence Street, one of the main arteries into the city centre, and I was amazed that there was not a "regular" bus service to the railway station.

Surely an integrated public transport system is the answer.

I am sure a certain Mr Prescott from Hull would agree.
