Many men have been in the same position as Nigel Kissack. They might have been distracted by the seasonal parties. They might have been unable to find something suitable. But, for whatever reason, they find themselves on Christmas Eve without a present for the wife.
That is why some unfortunate women unwrap a dusty box of chocolates - or even a car wash kit - on Christmas morning, knowing it was bought from the all-night petrol station only hours before.
Mr Kissack's last minute buy had a little more style, however. He bought wife Kathryn a £400,000 dream house in York, exchanging contracts at 8.30pm on the night before Christmas. No wonder he had no time to wrap it.
