Scarborough beach, in summer a place to bask in the sun, build sand castles and cool off with a quick dip in the sea, is captured here blanketed in snow. The recent cold weather has deterred all but the bravest winter dog walkers from venturing anywhere near the icy waters of the North Sea as they lap along the frozen sand.
Evening Press photographer Mike Tipping has captured the striking contrast the snow creates between the beach and the line of shops and arcades on the South Bay sea front.
The weather today is expected to be much the same as yesterday with some rain this afternoon and freezing conditions overnight.
