Baxenden Chemicals has awarded Ripon-based Potter Group the contract to provide logistics services for its Applied Chemicals Division.

A range of materials, including polyester resins and solvent-based coatings and adhesives, will be stored in an 8,000 sq ft purpose-designed, shared-user warhouse at Potter's specialist chemicals handling facility in the Midlands.

The contract, for an undisclosed sum, includes order picking, container emptying and filling on an as-needed basis.

Stuart Goss of Baxenden said: "We had a requirement for off-site storage for our chemical products, prior to delivery to our customers.

The Potter Group has extensive, fully-equipped warehousing, which is ideally located close to our production facility in Droitwich."

He added: "We were impressed with the Group's customer base in the chemicals sector, their commitment to integrated management systems and their flexible approach."

Last year, Ciba Speciality Chemicals outsourced the logistics for its Performance Polymers Division to The Potter Group. The £3m contract involved the storage of around 1,200 product lines under a range of conditions, including temperature controlled.
