Those of you who live outside the immediate district of Selby must be in wonderment at what the district council is all about.
Had it not been so enthusiastic to woo the county council in the purchase of the Selby swing bridge and remove the tolls without giving due consideration to the long term effects to people living in the immediate area, we would not be experiencing the current chaotic traffic conditions.
Now our elected representatives are seeking to make Selby a no-go area for parking.
Profits in excess of £100,000 from Selby's short-stay car parks should be considered as disgraceful. Disgraceful when many residents of the outlying wards of Selby district have little option but to travel to town by car.
Perhaps we do not have to wait for the Selby bypass to take traffic away from the centre of the town - prohibitive parking fees will make the bypass unnecessary.
