It could have been the Alps but it was actually Pickering as North Yorkshire got a generous coating of snow.
Members of the York Cross Country ski club find ideal conditions on the moors above Pickering after heavy snow in the area
Icy weather hit most of the county over the weekend, with around three inches of snow falling on the North York Moors, and weather experts today predicted there was more of the same to come.
The snow was a welcome sight for members of the York Cross Country Ski Club, who made the most of the unusually ideal conditions for their sport.
They were joined by families armed with sledges and a number of walkers who descended on the moors near Pickering, to take advantage of the "winter wonderland" conditions.
While a majority of the snow fell on the high ground, York saw temperatures drop to around -1C over the weekend. The city also experienced freezing fog and black ice, but a police spokesman said that this had caused "no major accidents" in the county.
