TWO cricket clubs have come together to form a new team in Tadcaster.
The Tadcaster Magnet Cricket Club will field three senior teams this year following the amalgamation of Tadcaster Sports Club with Magnet Sports and Social Club.
The new club creates a bright future for cricket in the town. Utilising both former clubs' grounds, it has a strong squad of senior players and will place a strong emphasis on developing youth cricket.
Members also have the benefit of the excellent social facilities of the new Sports and Social Club.
They have had their inaugural meeting when it was agreed their first team will play in the York and District Senior League division three, the second team in division four and the third team in the York Vale League division four.
Net practice is to begin on Friday, February 5 at 7pm. Anyone interested in joining the new club should ring Peter Dickens on 01937 836156.
