Bus fares are to go up in York from next week.
First York says prices will rise a few pence - but not above inflation levels.
A spokesman said it was the first time in 18 months that the company had increased its fares.
The average three per cent rise will see the Copmanthorpe to York return going up from £1.55 to £1.60, a Huntington to York single increasing from 80p to 83p, and the return to York from Strensall jumping from £1.30 to £1.40. A single from Chapelfields to the city centre will rise from 95p to £1 when the new fares come into force on Sunday.
Fares on the recently-introduced services to Monks Cross and the McArthur-Glenn designer shopping outlet - the MX6 buses - will not go up.
Weekly Minstercard prices are to be held for the time being, but the cost of senior citizens passes will go up on April 4.
John Fletcher, area operations manager for First York, said: "We have held off for a while. We normally put the fares up every year but we left them last summer because we felt we could. Revenues were rising, customers were rising, so it wasn't necessary. But now it is."
