An elderly York resident has finally received Royal recognition for her landmark birthday.
Hannah Malton, aged 100, holds up the belated telegram from the Queen
Hannah Malton, known as Ann, celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday but failed to receive a telegram from the Queen on the day. The telegram was confirmed as having left Buckingham Palace by recorded delivery, but failed to reach the centenarian at the Grimston Court residential home in York.
A Royal Mail spokesperson apologised to Mrs Malton and admitted the failure to deliver the telegram was a result of "human error".
The Royal Mail yesterday delivered flowers and champagne to Mrs Malton.
