I feel compelled to write in the hope that the elderly gentleman who hurled abusive language at me while I was riding my horse along Strensall Road early on Saturday morning is reading this.

I have kept horses in the Huntington area for over 25 years and it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find places to ride especially with the addition of the Monks Cross shopping area.

I do however try to keep off the main roads at the busiest times and be courteous and considerate to drivers.

The majority of drivers to respect the horse and to you I say thank you. It only takes a minute to slow down and to give a wide berth and I am sure on a weekend no one is in such a rush that they cannot do this.
