Treske Solid Wood Furniture has won a top environmental award for its "green" practices.
The Thirsk-based company beat over 100 other contestants nationwide to receive the coveted National Gold Award.
A spokesman for the organisers of awards, now in their fifth year, said: "We accept it is virtually impossible for any company or individual to be totally green, but if they all show the commitment and effort demonstrated by our trophy winners, the world will be a better place.
"We will now publicise Treske's efforts to encourage others to follow suit."
Treske, which has increased sales by 20 per cent to last year is planning to open new retail outlets, both in Yorkshire and London. In addition, it has over 15,000 visitors annually to its award-winning visitor centre.
Meanwhile, the company has also been awarded the prestigious Guild Mark - the industry's highest accolade for excellence in design and construction.
