POLICE are following up new leads in the search for the missing foster family whose car was found in a York street.

The discovery of the vehicle was the first breakthrough for officers trying to trace Jeffrey and Jennifer Bramley and their foster children, Jade Bennett, five, and her three-year-old sister Hannah, since they disappeared from their Cambridgeshire home three months ago.

They went missing after the Bramleys were told by social services that the children, whom they had tried to adopt, were to be taken from them.

Detectives are now pursuing new leads from their appeal for information, after the couple's blue Honda Concerto car, registration number G152 SHR, was found in Scarcroft Hill, York, on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Police said: "We have received a number of calls from members of the public following those appeals and we will, of course, be following those calls up."

Anyone with information about them is asked to call Cambridgeshire Police on 01480-422393.
