MIDFIELDER Scott Jordan is now an established York City senior player. So declared manager Alan Little of the Newcastle-born playmaker, who first made his City debut as a 17-year-old back in 1992.

Since then Jordan's progress has been stalled by a series of untimely injuries and the good form of others in the engine-room. But this season the talent that has always been evident in the elegant distribution of the 23-year-old has blossomed.

Enthused Little: "Many people have wondered whether Scott would come through. He has always been a player of promise.

"But this season he has matured and is now commanding a first-team place on merit. He is, I believe, an established Second Division player."

That elevated status is a welcome lift for Jordan, who has figured in 12 of the last 13 City games - his longest run in the senior team.

His contract is up this summer, so a prolonged stay in the team will do his chances no harm of landing a fresh deal.

Jordan's ability to shoot from distance has also increased the potency of the Minstermen. He has plundered several vital goals this season, including the winner at Blackpool and added Little: "Every time he gets forward now he looks like getting a goal."
