FLEET management and funding specialist Velo has expanded its operation into the North of England with the launch of a new office in Harrogate with seven new posts.

The new Velo (North) Ltd is headed by Yorkshireman Nigel Stead, who is riding the tide of signings of a number of major clients in Yorkshire, including the Bradford and Bingley Building Society and the Spring Ram Corporation.
Velo Ltd, a subsidiary of Kleinwort Benson Ltd and a member of the Dresdner Bank Group, recorded a £40 million turnover last year with company assets worth more than £113 million. It manages and funds more than 20,000 vehicles.
Mr Stead has been responsible for setting up two vehicle management companies, First Service Management Ltd, the leasing subsidiary of United Dominions Trust, and JCT 600 Contracts. He began his career at British Leyland followed by Appleyard Group plc, and is a member of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association Long Term Rental Committee and a member of the Institute of Motor Industry.
