LAST Saturday just before 6pm, walking from the railway station past the Royal York Hotel, I witnessed the following incident.
A group of five or six young men ahead of me suddenly broke into loud "monkey noises" at the approach of two black women carrying shopping.
The street was busy so others must have seen or heard this example of spontaneous, disgusting racist abuse in the heart of our city.
The culprits may be identifiable from closed-circuit television cameras. The odious actions of these men cannot be allowed to stand without serious investigation.
