An even bigger double penalty now faces York City after their brace of red cards at Wrexham.
Currently faced by an injury crisis of crippling proportions the club will lose the services of both Mark Tinkler and Martin Reed for the December 19 visit of Manchester City to Bootham Crescent. That's when each will start their respective suspensions.
Tinkler is due to get a one-match ban for his red card, while Reed is likely to suffer a longer absence. He was shown the red card in the last minute of Saturday's tie for violent conduct after previously being booked in the first-half and also being warned by referee Stretton.
Just to worsen matters skipper Steve Agnew was again troubled by his deep-seated groin injury and has been ruled out of tomorrow night's return to League action at home to fellow strugglers Lincoln City.
Winger Gordon Connelly hobbled on to the City coach nursing a rap on the ankle but is expected to be fit.
There are no signs of the seven other senior players - striker Neil Woods did at least make the bench on Saturday - recovering in time for the visit of the Red Imps, a fixture postponed by bad weather from its original October 24 date.
Breathless Bullock hoping to get a second chance
DEBUTANT Lee Bullock was still catching his breath from the incident-crammed FA Cup clash that served as his York City baptism.
Teenager Bullock featured in the first-half of Saturday's second round tie at Wrexham, his involvement only ended by a positional switch for the second-half after the 31st-minute dismissal of key defender Mark Tinkler.
But while Bullock was disappointed not to have completed the full 90 minutes he was nevertheless thrilled by his debut. Now he hoped he had put himself in the frame for more senior duty.
Said the 17-year-old midfielder, who hails from Stockton-on-Tees: "I only found out in training on the day before the game and on Friday night I was quite nervous. But once I got on the coach I was okay."
The youngster added that he would have preferred to have had more touches of the ball, explaining: "It's a lot tighter in there and a much quicker than in the reserves.
"Wrexham had a strong midfield and there was not much space. I remember winning a few headers, but I would have liked to have seen more of the ball.
"I know I was only in because of the injuries at the club. But at least now though I have put myself in the manager's mind."
