York City's injury crisis is still at critical point less than 48 hours before their FA Cup showdown at Wrexham.
Of the ten men lodged in the treatment room only skipper Steve Agnew looks to have a chance of appearing in the second round tie.
But to do that the experienced schemer will have to play through the pain threshold.
Said City boss Alan Little: "Agnew has been carrying a groin injury for several weeks. It's got to the stage where after a match he has to immediately ice the damaged area and then have several days rest.
"But he is desperate to play and all credit to him for that. He has not trained all this week, but if gets through a session tomorrow then he will play against Wrexham."
The chances of others coming out of the treatment room are far more remote. Newest casualty Andy McMillan is rated only at 50-50 of maintaining his ever-present run in the team this season.
"As yet we cannot work on too much in training because we are still not sure who is going to be available and who is not.
"I've never known an injury situation like this at the club, but we have just got to get on with it," said Little, who added that several of the club's senior youth trainees had been put on FA Cup alert for the trip to north Wales.
Meanwhile, former City ace Jonathan Greening was one of the lone stars of Manchester United's tumble from the Worthington Cup at Tottenham last night.
In his third senior outing for United - all in the Worthington Cup - Greening was United's best attacker, earning praise from no less an authority than former England and West Ham schemer Trevor Brooking.
But the 19-year-old's efforts were to no avail as United crashed 3-1 to their White Hart Lane hosts, who ironically, had offered to buy the youngster from York just days before his move to Old Trafford was secured last February.
Worthington Cup semi-final draw: Sunderland v Leicester, Tottenham v Wimbledon. 1st legs week commencing January 25th, 2nd legs week commencing February 15th.
