It is one of the inescapable facts of the newspaper business that many of the stories we carry reflect the worst aspects human nature. Just such a story concerned Raymond Armstrong, terminally ill with cancer, whose hopes of a dream weekend break were shattered when a stolen cheque was used to buy his car.
So we are delighted to report tonight that two Good Samaritans, touched by his plight, have donated money to help him. Their generosity has helped to restore both our and Mr Armstrong's faith in human nature.
