Emma Noble's other half proved that he's truly noble by nature - by insisting the former Price Is Right hostess take centre stage at the Grand Opera House.
Despite the exhortations of gathered photographers, James Major made it clear he wanted the limelight to shine only on his intended.
"This is all about Emma and her career and nothing to do with me," he said.
Bookings are soaring at the Grand Opera House to see the model, former quiz show hostess and future daughter-in-law of ex-Prime Minister John Major in her debut stage role.
Appropriately she is playing a model-turned-actress, in the first national tour of Popcorn, Ben Elton's satirical thriller about Hollywood movies glamorizing violence.
"The phone lines have been red hot and the box office has been buzzing since the York public realised Emma was in the show through all the publicity leading up to her arrival," said Opera House general manager Ian Sime.
"York people tend to book late for plays, and she has definitely been good news for ticket sales."
Emma, the cover girl on the latest issue of GQ, the designer lifestyle magazine for fashion-conscious men, is in York until Saturday.
