The name and location of York's newest shopping centre are causing some angst. Its official title, the 'BAA McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Village', has failed to capture the public imagination. Instead, it has become known as the Naburn complex.
However, it is not located in the pretty village of Naburn.
The confusion stems from the fact that the shops were built on what was called Naburn Hospital. To make matters more baffling, this shared a site with what everyone knew as the Fulford Maternity Hospital. To make things clear, we should always refer to it as the BAA McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Village On The Former Naburn And Fulford Hospitals Site Near York. Simple.
