Manager Alan Little hit out at 'manic minutes' as he grabbed at the solace of York City's continued involvement in the FA Cup.

Richard Cresswell (left) celebrates scoring his second goal to give York City a 2-0 lead at Enfield.

Transfer-listed defender Tony Barras was slated by Little for gifting plucky Ryman League outfit Enfield both goals to complete a comeback from 2-0 down to force a 2-2 draw.

The two clubs will have to start all over again in the replay at Bootham Crescent a week tomorrow for the right to journey to City's Division Two rivals Wrexham in the second round on Saturday, December 5.

Declared Little: "The game was over. It was safe. We've got two goals in front and it should have been finished there and then.

"But five minutes of madness from my centre-half has cost us two goals. In between Enfield have never really threatened and that's what hurts.

"The only good thing is that we are still in the FA Cup. There are a lot of teams who have gone out today."

Barras' cup-tie misery was completed soon after the Enfield second goal when he pulled up sharply with a hamstring injury that could sideline him for several weeks.

The City manager attributed Barras' poor display to the breakdown in transfer talks over a new contract that have seen the defender put up for sale.Said Little: "He has been affected by his position at the club."

While insisting the tie should have been dead and buried at half-time when the Minstermen led by two goals from striker Richard Cresswell to hoist his tally to 11 for the season, Little conceded City were again below-par.

"We started badly again. We made hard work of it. Even though we looked edgy and unable to flow we got two goals. We were comfortable without playing well."

Goalkeeper Andy Warrington, one of a handful of Minstermen to acquit themselves well, said all the players were disconsolate.

"Compared to us Enfield should not be on the same pitch. We are far better, yet whether it's a sign of our poor confidence, we've let them back into it.

"If you are two goals up then that should be it. But now we have to approach the replay far more determined to make sure we do the job properly at our place. We've got to get right into them."

City's wounded ranks were swelled not just by hamstring strain victim Barras. Midfielder Mark Tinkler hobbled out of the tie in the 26th minute after suffering a dead leg in an earlier challenge.

If City do get through to face Wrexham it will be the first time they have encountered the Welshmen in the FA Cup.

And they could be up against Ian Rush, holder of the record number of goals scored in the world's oldest knockout competition.
