PETER Green played a major part in Green Tree 'B' team's exciting 5-4 York Exhibition Hotel Group League win over Osbaldwick Sports.
Tree were beginning to struggle following a four tons-plus for a 20-dart game by Osbaldwick's John Holden, but Gary Scott hit back with three tons and 137 to check with a splendid 17 darts.
Green rose to the challenge with a 152 finish to crown a 15-dart game over the league's man-in-form Russ Armstrong. Green went on to get the match winner when partnering Chris Kirby.
Snickleway had a 15-dart flurry (100,100,100,135 included) from landlord Frank Cartin in a 5-4 win over Saddle, their first points of the season.
Kev Walton (18) and Mick Wilsden, following 20 darts with a pairs 180, took the spoils for Shepherds against Beeswing, while 18 from Mick Coupland and John Crowe's maximum helped Dringhouses beat Sun 'B' 6-3.
Horseman's Brian Harden checked on 100 and included a pairs 180 but Earswick won 6-3.
Mount's Marshall Pye-Derek Alexander clinched victory over Cygnet 'B', but Cygnet 'A' beat Ainsty 6-3 to stay top of division two.
Tony Chapman, along with Pete Pearson, played well to get Ainsty the aggregate.
In a classic opening game a maximum got Sven Smith to a double but Cygnet's Pete Holland hit a great 116 check to win in 21 darts.
Dave Britten threw a good 20 darts for Swan but at the end Dave MacDonald paired with Kev Pallister to earn Green Tree 'A' their first points.
Turf's 6-3 win included 19 darts by Ray McInally, and Groves had a 100 finish thrown by Pete Ross.
York Brewery League match fixtures were set aside in order to decide the last eight players in the individual championship.
Gary Strider, representing Leeman, beat Clifton's Martin Hagan 2-1 to take block one. Chris Thompson (Britannia) was in top form throughout his group matches, recording mostly 17 and 18 darters.
Thompson tore through his final against Mal Church (City Arms) with two 15 darters, one of them with a 126 finish.
Clifton's Rich King progressed with 18,19 against Leeman's Grant McClean, then beat Benny Elcock of Punch Bowl 'A'.
Tony Cooper (Britannia) topped his group with a 116 check for 18, then 14 darts against Neil Hart (Punch 'B').
John Miller (Queen) threw a 115 finish for 18 but Cooper responded with a splendid 17 then 20 darts to win. Miller then beat Magnet's Dave Catlow with a 180 for 18 game.
John Mooring (City Arms) was a comfortable winner, not exceeding 19 darts, while a superb 16 darts saw Punch Bowl's Neil Fairclough into the final with Paul Brandon which Fairclough won 2-0.
Other block winners were Martin Waddington (Leeman) and Darren Bailey (Tap).
Cygnet 'A' are beginning to dominate the York John Smith's Mixed League division one table. In their latest victory, 8-3 over Huntington, Mick Wilsden included a maximum for 18 darts and Kev Walton gamed in 19.
Britannia's Chris Thompson recorded 21 darts then paired with Michelle Britton for 27 which closed with a ton check against Sea Horse, whose Nick Harteveld had an excellent 18 darts.
Bumper's Mike Plummer closed on bull, while Diane Moreland partnered Andy Wright to get Snickleway the decider against Burton as did Alan Miller and Audrey Carling for Queen at Cross Keys.
