It comes as no surprise to learn that hard drugs are being sold on local streets.
Our recent investigation made clear that such activity is not confined to the bleaker pockets of Britain but is taking place on our doorstep.
What is shocking is tonight's news that heroin pushers are targeting children as young as 11.
And this is not happening on an inner city estate, but in Haxby and Wigginton, leafy, comfortable suburbs of York.
Police are already taking action to tackle this evil trade.
But residents are bound to be worried.
Parents must ensure they know where their children are at all times if these playing-field pushers are to be defeated.
