Former York City manager John Ward has reached agreement with Bristol City over his contract and claimed that new Robins boss Benny Lennartson had not been appointed behind his back.
Ward left the hot-seat at Bristol last week citing a difference of opinion over the coaching system which coincided with Lennartson's arrival.
He said there had been misunderstanding surrounding the circumstances which led to his departure from the division one club and stressed there was no ill will between him and the Bristol City board. In a joint statement, Ashton Gate chairman Scott Davidson said that the remainder of Ward's contract had been settled and he paid tribute to the former manager's achievements.
Ward said: "The board first consulted me over their views back in September and made it very clear they would like to recruit an experienced coach from Europe."
