It's a purrfect match. Yorkie the (stuffed) Bengal tiger and Caitlin Mackellar, 7, from Poppleton, get to know one another at a new exhibition on cats.
The introductions were made at Claws, the latest attraction at the Yorkshire Museum, which opened on Saturday with a fun day to kick off a series of events during the summer holidays.
Corina Inverno, of the Yorkshire Museum, in Museum Gardens, York, said: "Claws and Animal Magic are entertaining and exciting exhibitions where visitors can discover all the facts they never knew about their pets and other animals.
"Claws explores the natural history of cats from tabbies to tigers and sabre-tooth to Siamese.
"It is a chance to prowl around the Yorkshire Museum and find out how our feline friends compare with the wild cats of the jungle."
Claws is open throughout the summer. Weekday mornings and early afternoons will see treasure hunts, collage workshops, rug-making and fabric crayon fun, and there will also be a chance for children to join the museum's Lego animal-making competition.
