York student Nick Kay has ended the cricket season on a high.
He has become the first St Peter's School pupil to score 1,000 runs in a school season.
He totalled 1,076 runs, averaging 59.77 - statistics which helped earn him a place in Leicestershire 2nd XI.
Kay has also been selected for Yorkshire Under 19s and the Yorkshire Senior Schools side. He also scored a remarkable unbeaten 200 against Giggleswick GS earlier in the season.
St Peter's completed the term in style winning four games at the annual Merchant Taylors' School Festival in Northwood, London.
The York side beat Loretto, Cranleigh, Rossall and Elizabeth College, Guernsey, and drew with the host school.
The bowling award went to St Peter's swing bowler James Dougherty who captured 21 wickets for only 110 runs.
Another North Yorkshire youngster on the rise is Ripon Grammar School star John Inglis, who is currently playing for the England Under 19 'A' team against the Pakistan touring team.
The match, at Wellington College, Berkshire, is scheduled to finish today.
Inglis clinched his place with a good performance for the English Cricket Board Under 19 game against the Combined Services last week.
The North Yorkshire teenager represented England Schools at Under 15 level in 1994 and has established himself as one of the top young batsmen in the Yorkshire League, including the biggest score of the season - 138 - against York last season.
That was one of three centuries he scored last summer as he picked up the junior batting award.
He made the York attack suffer again this season with 104 last month.
Ryedale School youngster Dan Broadbent, 13, is also making his mark on the county scene.
The Gillamoor lad's spin bowling and cricket knowledge saw him named captain of the Scarborough and District team.
He performed so well in a match against York, when he took five wickets for 12 runs in six overs, that he was sent to the North Yorkshire trials, where his talent was quickly recognised.
In a recent match for North Yorkshire against West Yorkshire, he took four wickets for 24 runs in eight overs.
But he surpassed even that in a game against Manchester when he took five wickets for 11 runs in five overs.
Manor School, competed the term with three York Schools cricket cups.
Their Under 12s won their Cup final by beating Tadcaster by 16 runs.
Batting first, Manor made 98 in their 20 overs then bowled Tadcaster out for 82.
In the Under 13 League Final, Manor scored 108-1 off 20 overs then skittled Fulford for just 47 to win by 61 runs.
Completing Manor's hat-trick of trophies, the Under 15s won the League Final by beating Joseph Rowntree by 22 runs. Manor hit 120 off 20 overs, a target which proved beyond Joseph Rowntree, who were bowled out for 98.
The only cup Manor didn't win went to Burnholme, who won the Under 14 Cup Final. Burnholme made 82-6 to beat Millthorpe 81-8 by four wickets.
