Racing by Tom O' Ryan

Dispol Safa, narrowly beaten at Ayr last week, can go one better at Catterick tomorrow.

The Peter Calver-trained filly aims for the Leeds Nursery Handicap and, with the in-form John Carroll booked to do the steering, looks set to register her second success of the season from four starts.

Winner of a seller at Thirsk last month, Dispol Safa stepped up in class and distance at Ayr recently and went down fighting by three-quarters of a length to Pet Express Flyer.

The form of that race was given a boost by third-placed Three Green Leaves, who scored at Beverley last night.

Dispol Safa, a cheaply-bought yearling, is proving to be a bargain-buy. She will look even more of a bargain if she can land this handicap which boasts £4,600 in added prize money.

Following sprinters in form is invariably a worthwhile exercise, and Johayro, who fits snugly into that category, is napped to defy a 6lb penalty in the featured £10,000 Tote Handicap.

Trained by the in-form Jim Goldie at Paisley in Scotland, Johayro suffered two narrow defeats before gaining a deserved success at Ayr last week.

Well suited by the minimum distance, which he faces tomorrow, Johayro can come out on top of Royal Dome, narrowly beaten here last week, and the well-weighted Treasure Touch, who gave notice of a comeback to form at Beverley recently.

Walter Swinburn is a rare visitor to Catterick, but the three-times Derby-winning jockey will be in action on the course tomorrow - and is expected to make his presence felt.

Swinburn teams up with a couple of Michael Stoute-trained runners, Tambarann (2-00) and Corelli (4-00), both of which have winning claims.

Swinburn, like several jockeys riding at Catterick tomorrow afternoon, will switch to Sandown in the evening, where High Premium will have the assistance of Kieren Fallon, the reigning champion, in the opening Harpers & Queen Claiming Stakes.

Trained at Butterwick near Malton by Richard Fahey, High Premium, winner of the Lincoln Handicap in his heyday, has proved a remarkable money-spinner in recent years and even now at the age of ten, is still a force to be reckoned with in these sort of events.

Successful three times this season, including his latest outing at Carlisle, the evergreen gelding can make his long journey south pay off.

Fallon can also score on the hat-trick seeking John Ferneley (7-15) for Paul Cole, and aboard the Henry Cecil-trained Dabus (8-15).

The latter has run only once, at Newmarket a fortnight ago, but showed plenty of promise to finish third to Generous Rosi. Open to improvement, he can step up on that performance here.

Storyteller had proved a prolific winner for Darlington trainer Michael Dods this summer, and his long journey south to contest the Barometer Handicap should not go un-rewarded, especially with smart apprentice Robert Winston in the saddle.
