Four-year-old Chloe Condren has lost her brave battle against cancer.
The youngster whose plight prompted a fund-raising campaign to send her to Disneyland died peacefully at her home off Leeman Road, York, with parents Rebecca and Billy by her side.
Her mother told today how Chloe, who had been semi-conscious for weeks, recovered consciousness just hours before she died. "She opened her eyes and looked at both of us.
"We are really proud that we were able to nurse Chloe at home right to the end. It was a terrible strain but we found the courage to do it. It was where she belonged, at home with us."
She asked mourners to turn up to Chloe's funeral, which takes place 12 noon on Friday, wearing bright and colourful clothes. "It's what Chloe would have wanted. She liked bright colours."
The funeral at English Martyr's Church in Dalton Terrace will be followed by cremation at York Crematorium at 1pm.
Rebecca thanked well-wishers who raised £11,000, intending to send Chloe on a dream trip to see Mickey Mouse in America after she recovered.
When doctors gave the couple the devastating news in the spring that they could do nothing more to treat Chloe, Rebecca and Billy were determined she should not miss out and took her to Disneyland Paris.
Rebecca also thanked staff and parents of pupils at St George's Roman Catholic Primary School, where Chloe was a nursery pupil, for raising money to build a reflective garden in the school grounds, where people can think of Chloe, and another nursery pupil, Katie Street, who is terminally ill.
Chloe's sister, Hollie, three, can tend to the garden when she starts at nursery in September.
