KEITH Charlton completed a successful defence of his men's veterans singles title at the York Municipal Tennis Championships.
The top seed defeated number two seed John Linfoot in three sets in a repeat of last year's final at York University - but not without a scare.
Charlton won the first game of the match against serve but went on to lose the next six as Linfoot easily won the opening set.
Charlton levelled the match by taking the second and looked to be coasting as he led 4-1 in the third. But Linfoot fought back to 4-4 before Charlton edged home by taking the next two.
In the final of the ladies veterans doubles, the top pair Helen Maynard and Christine Place won in two sets against Rosie Cantrell and Ros Latham.
