York City eased into their pre-season programme with a comfortable 5-0 win over Pocklington.
Neither Andy Warrington nor trialist 'keeper MatthewBoswell were forced into significant action during Saturday's match when the full City squad graced the Pocklington Gala to celebrate the official opening of the new sports pavilion.
The gulf in status between City's senior ranks and the hosts, who have gained promotion to the premier division of the York Leeper-Hare District League, was never more evident than in the opening 35 minutes when City carved out a 4-0 advantage.
The highlight was the fluent interplay of new signing Neil Woods and Richard Cresswell up front. They dovetailed well, Cresswell twice on target and Woods also scoring with a crisp shot before a goal from trialist winger Rory Prendergast.
City then made the first of wholesale changes and in the second-half had only a superb solo goal from Alan Pouton to show for their dominance. However, Neil Tolson was foiled by a glorious double-save from Pocklington 'keeper Kevin Pickering.
Little said: "It's too early to read anything into this, but we kept a good shape and passed the ball well. It was all that we could have wanted from a first match in the pre-season."
He also praised the hosts. "It's an impressive set-up. I was delighted with the quality of the pitch and the rest of the facilities. It's been a good day."
