YAVANA'S PACE, who triumphed in a valuable race at Sandown a week ago, can complete a double at York tomorrow.

Trained at Middleham by Mark Johnston, whose horses are now back in cracking form, Yavana's Pace bids for the WWAV North Rated Handicap and is napped to oblige in the hands of Michael Hills.

Yavana's Pace started at 20-1 for last Friday's Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy but belied those odds by running out a determined neck winner from French raider Punishment and hot favourite Greek Palace.

Yavana's Pace has an extra two furlongs to travel tomorrow and a 3lbs penalty to contend with, but this improving six-year-old has the scope to oblige again and keep this prize in the home county.

Polly Golightly bids for her second course and distance success of the season in the opening Mr Kipling Exceedingly Good Cakes Handicap over five furlongs.

Michael Blanshard's speedy filly beat Lago Di Varano by two lengths here last month and has since run well in defeat in the Gosforth Park Cup, when finishing seventh of 19 to Nuclear Debate after taking hefty hike in the ratings.

Polly Golightly would ideally prefer some more cut in the ground but she should not be underestimated in a race in which new Hambleton trainer Kevin Ryan should enjoy a good run with Top Of The Form, who produced a promising effort at Warwick on her belated seasonal reappearance.

The £20,000 Stanley Racing Summer Stakes could offer Vignette the opportunity to open her winning account for the season.

Successful in one of her two juvenile outings, John Gosden's filly returned to action at Newmarket last month and was beaten less than two lengths into third by Quiln when carrying 2lb overweight.

Vignette should safely account for Nadwah (second that day) as she is set to meet that rival on 6lb better terms tomorrow. Walter Swinburn has the mount.

The Gulp! Conditions Stakes could well provide an opportunity for Weet-A-Minute to gain a deserved and overdue success.

Runner-up in this race 12 months ago, Reg Hollinshead's five-year-old continues to race well in high class company, but finds it difficult to get his head in front.

A previous winner over this course and distance, Weet-A-Minute could well find opportunity knocking tomorrow in the hands of Richard Quinn.

Pride Of Pendle, a cracking third to La Modiste at Doncaster last time, is entitled to plenty of respect in the Hearthstead Homes Handicap, while the Paul Cole-trained newcomer Silver Apple is one to note in the Complete Prodspec Maiden Stakes.
