A FAMILY claim they were threatened with a knife in an alleged road-rage attack near Pickering.
The couple, with a young baby, say they were prevented from getting into a traffic queue at roadworks in Scarborough by a Ford Escort carrying two men.
The Escort then "tailgated" their Suzuki Wagon R, flashing its lights at them as they drove along the A170 towards Pickering.
It overtook them at Wykeham, and the driver is alleged to have held up a five-inch bladed knife so the passengers in the car could see it. The woman in the Suzuki then called police on her mobile phone.
A police armed-response vehicle, which was in the area, was called in to stop the offender's car near Thornton-le-Dale.A man from the Scarborough area was arrested and a knife confiscated.
A man is on police bail. No charges have yet been made.
PC Gareth Gilleard, of Pickering police, said any witnesses of the incident should contact him on 01723 509512.
