Night Flight, a runaway winner at Newcastle last Thursday, can complete a quick double at Haydock tomorrow.

Trained at Butterick near Malton by the in-form Richard Fahey, Night Flight goes for the £10,000 49's Eccles Handicap and will be hard to beat under a 6lb penalty.

Formerly trained by Jonjo O'Neill, Night Flight had posted respectable efforts on all his three starts before Newcastle.

Always going well in the hands of Frankie Dettori the four-year-old, who had been backed from 9-2 to 9-4 favourite, struck the front entering the final furlong and quickened away from his toiling rivals in tremendous style to win by three and a half lengths.

Robert Winston, Fahey's smart apprentice, takes the mount tomorrow and with his 5lb riding allowance, effectively cancels out most of Night Flight's penalty. In a hot race, the Ryedale sprinter is napped to oblige again.

Neil Callan, a 19-year-old from Ireland, has seen his fortunes blossom since coming to England three months ago, and he can notch his tenth success aboard Feel No Fear in the Nivo Group Apprentices' Handicap.

Trained by Rod Simpson, Feel No Fear looked unlucky at Goodwood last week when she encountered traffic problems before coming home full of running in second place behind Amber Fort.

Eric Alston, who sent out Unchanged to win at Hamilton yesterday, can follow up in the Global One Fillies' Handicap with Murchan Tyne, who looks an improved horse this season.

At Catterick, David Barker's speedy three-year-old Tancred Times caught the eye at Carlisle last week when finishing third to Empire State. Now set to meet that winner on better terms in the Scotch Corner Handicap, Tancred Times can open her seasonal account.

It is three years since Old Red landed the Cesarewitch for Mary Reveley, and the eight-year-old has had plenty of problems since. He is nowhere near as good as he once was, but, now racing off a mark 20lb lower than in his heyday, he deserves respect in the 'Turmeric' Handicap after a creditable run behind Salska at Newcastle last week.
