Former York City striker Ted MacDougall has been appointed chief scout at First Division Portsmouth.
The ex-Scottish international, who scored 40 goals in 90 City appearances in the late 1960s, is returning from Canada to join Pompey as a talent spotter and youth team coach for manager Alan Ball.
The 51-year-old, who also played for Manchester United, West Ham United and Southampton in a 256-goal League career, emigrated to Canada in 1985 and ran a property development company.
A move to buy former club Bournemouth in 1994 failed to come off but MacDougall will return to the South Coast next season.
MacDougall was briefly player/assistant manager to Ball at Blackpool in 1980.
