It's the brunt of everyone's jokes - but the residents of Wetwang have got their own back. Following a comment by Countdown host Richard Whiteley, live on air, that he wouldn't mind being mayor of the tiny village, residents have challenged him to take up the role.
Now, this Sunday, the former presenter of regional news programme Calendar will make history and become the first mayor of the village, near Driffield. He will be installed as mayor - complete with chains and red robes borrowed from Driffield Town Council - at an open gardens day.
