Yorkshire Cricket by David Warner
Yorkshire will still be without Craig White and Darren Gough at Exmouth tomorrow (June 24) when they come up against Minor Counties' champions Devon in the first round of the NatWest Trophy.
White scored 80 for Yorkshire Seconds in their two wicket defeat off the last ball against Derbyshire at Park Avenue yesterday, but his back remained too painful for him to bowl and Yorkshire are now having to consider what will be the next stage in the treatment to get him back to full fitness.
Gough, who broke a finger while batting in the first Test at Edgbaston over a fortnight ago, is not yet quite ready for action but plans to return for the three-day match against Cambridge University which begins at Headingley on Saturday.
Both Gough and Chris Silverwood will be trying to convince the England selectors in this match that they are fit enough to be considered for the third Test against South Africa which begins at Old Trafford on Thursday week.
Yorkshire travel to Exmouth today with the same team which beat Durham in the AXA League at Riverside on Sunday, plus Matthew Wood.
If Yorkshire come through unscathed tomorrow they will be away to the winners of the Lancashire v Sussex match in the second round.
Yorkshire (v Devon) from: Vaughan, McGrath, White, Byas, Lehmann, Parker, Wood, Blakey, Hamilton, Silverwood, Stemp, Hutchison, Sidebottom.
Devon are led by Somerset's former captain, Peter Roebuck, who has been largely instrumental in helping them win the Minor Counties championship for four consecutive years - something which no side has ever achieved before.
Roebuck hit 83 out of 242 for four when Yorkshire last played Devon at Exmouth in the first round four years ago.
Yorkshire were then in big trouble at 137 for five but White's unbeaten 65 helped see them home by four wickets when the rain-hit game resumed the following morning.
