Hopes for a scorching Midsummer weekend have been washed out by showers and the promise of thundery weather until Sunday afternoon.
Original predictions that the county was poised for a long-awaited hot spell were dashed by the arrival of cloud from the west, which has brought with it rain.
And things can only get wetter, says forecaster Rob Bunn, of the PA Weather Centre.
"Avoid barbecues," advised Rob. "Showers and other storms were meant to stay in the west, but they have spoilt our day.
"It could easily have been 28C-30C, if they hadn't come along.''
Similar weather is expected tomorrow (June 21), not clearing up until later in the day.
